Liposomes: the Technology that Boosts Magnesium Absorption and Bioavailability
Magnesium comes in various forms. This essential mineral is always bound to a "salt."
That's why we find marine magnesium, magnesium citrate, magnesium malate, magnesium bisglycinate, and more.
Some forms, like marine magnesium (magnesium oxide), have low absorption rates and often cause digestive discomfort. Others are more easily absorbed but contain little actual magnesium.
In contrast, liposomal magnesium ensures optimal absorption while being gentle on the digestive system.
Solage Guarantees True Liposomal Magnesium: High Absorption and Exceptional Stability
1 / Our liposomes are guaranteed to be between 80 nm and 180 nm, measured using a laser diffraction particle size analyzer.
This fine liposome size ensures efficient passage through the small intestine without saturation risk and maintains stability after opening.
2 / Soy-free liposomes (hormone-free), made from non-GMO sunflower phosphatidylcholine. The magnesium is fully encapsulated within the liposomes.
3 / Proven and guaranteed shelf life (1 year and 2 months after opening).
4 / Magnesium in magnesium citrate form, providing digestive comfort as well as an alkalizing effect.
5 / Unlike Ultramag liposomal magnesium, our liposomal magnesium uses magnesium citrate instead of magnesium oxide, which has been scientifically proven to have better cellular retention than magnesium oxide (1).
Why Choose Solage Liposomal Magnesium Over Other Forms of Magnesium?
The effectiveness of a magnesium supplement can be judged by its actual elemental magnesium content (the part usable by our body) and its bioavailability.
Magnesium, however, is never alone and always needs a carrier. Depending on the carrier, the elemental magnesium content and bioavailability can vary significantly.
Additionally, certain carriers can have an acidifying effect on the body (something to avoid) while others are alkalizing.
This results in two main categories of magnesium:
1/ Magnesiums with high elemental content but low absorption. These are inorganic salts.
The most common types are magnesium oxide and marine magnesium. These forms are also acidifying for the body.
They should be avoided as they are, at best, minimally effective and, at worst, cause digestive discomfort.
2/ Magnesiums with low elemental content but good bioavailability: biglycinate, malate, taurinate. However, the required daily dose is quite large.
Why Choose Magnesium Citrate in Liposomal Form?
Solage Liposomal Magnesium Combines High Elemental Magnesium, Superior Absorption, and Alkalizing Action
The Solage magnesium formula provides 200mg of pure liposomal magnesium per daily dose. That's 200mg of magnesium that is genuinely absorbed and utilized by the body.
The liquid liposome bridges the gap between tablets and injections. It is currently the only oral form allowing near-perfect absorption of elemental magnesium without needing additional enhancements for bioavailability.
Solage guarantees genuine liposomes: we ensure the size, uniformity, and stability of our liposomes.
We use magnesium citrate, which is only released once it reaches the cells after passing through the intestinal barrier and being transported in the bloodstream. Magnesium citrate has an alkalizing (de-acidifying) effect on the body, unlike other forms of magnesium.
Composition per 10mL (recommended daily dose):
- Purified water,
- Phospholipids (1.3 g),
- Magnesium citrate (1.3 g, providing 200 mg of magnesium = 53% NRV*),
- Vegan glycerol,
- Malic acid,
- Natural flavors: lemon, basil, and elderflower,
- Preservative: natural sea buckthorn extract and rosemary extract
For 200 mg of Magnesium
- 10mL per day, using the measuring glass, which is about two teaspoons, preferably in the evening before dinner mixed with water or fruit juice.
Liposomal Magnesium can be taken pure or diluted in water or fruit juice (avoid hot drinks).
It is recommended to shake the bottle before use, store it in the refrigerator after opening, and consume it within two months (beyond this, it's not harmful, but the liposomes may lose quality).
We recommend taking our liposomal magnesium for 15 days, then taking a 15-day break, or following a schedule of one week on, one week off.
This allows the body enough time to fully integrate it and avoid saturation (not harmful, but unnecessary).
According to a study, 3 out of 4 French adults are deficient in magnesium.
Magnesium is a mineral involved in over 300 metabolic reactions in the body. It helps maintain what is known as electrolyte balance. Early signs of magnesium deficiency include:
- Weakness and fatigue: magnesium is essential for the energy metabolism of our body,
- Loss of appetite,
- Muscle cramps and stiffness: magnesium supports normal muscle function,
- Numbness or tingling: magnesium is important for the proper functioning of the nervous system,
- Irregular heartbeat,
- Fragile bones and teeth: due to its close relationship with calcium and Vitamin D3, magnesium helps maintain strong bones and healthy teeth.
- Nervousness, mood changes, or altered personality: magnesium supports a normal psychological function.
It’s crucial to maintain adequate magnesium levels because, beyond the "obvious" symptoms of deficiency, magnesium plays roles in essential functions whose lack can have long-term consequences:
- Magnesium contributes to cell division (the renewal of our cells),
- Magnesium is essential for proper protein synthesis.
Additional Tips
- For sleep issues combined with fatigue, liquid melatonin with enhanced absorption (Solmeil) may help promote restful sleep.
- For fragile bones or osteoporosis, magnesium can be paired with high-absorption Vitamin D3 (Solvita-D3) to aid in proper calcium absorption from food.
Superior Bioavailability of Solage Liposomal Magnesium: The Study
A randomized, controlled study was conducted on volunteers to compare the bioavailability of Solage liposomal magnesium with standard magnesium.
The study included 20 participants between the ages of 20 and 50, who were randomly divided into two groups of 10.
On an empty stomach, each participant received 400mg of magnesium citrate, either in its standard form or as a liposomal supplement.
A small blood sample was taken before supplement intake and then every two hours up to 12 hours after intake for analysis.
Magnesium serum levels were measured, revealing a significant improvement in the bioavailability of liposomal magnesium compared to traditional magnesium capsules.
In the graph below, the blue area represents normal serum magnesium levels, the pink line shows magnesium levels with liposomal intake, and the green line represents the lower absorption rate with standard magnesium capsules.
Solage liposome size is certified.

Solage recommends:
- Most of our nutrients come from France or Europe (local is a priority), except when we can't do otherwise (for curcuma, for example). We never choose ingredients from places or countries where quality is not assured and workers are poorly paid.
- Solage products are designed in France and manufactured according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards from the pharmaceutical industry and the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) method, developed by NASA.
Both methods implement procedures, documents and controls to guarantee perfect traceability and the absence of biological or chemical contamination.
- Solage is a French company, and its products are registered with the relevant authorities.
Solage products are safe, with no bad surprises.
To answer this question, we distinguish between three types of product, depending on their nature and intended purpose:
1/ Ideally taken as a continuous treatment: those which compensate for a nutritional or age-related deficiency, and which serve to restore the body's functions without altering its normal metabolism.
- Common nutritional deficiencies: marine omega-3, vitamin C, magnesium, vitamin D between October and May
- Age-related or pathological deficiencies: Ubiquinol, Glutathione, Iron, Collagen (type I and II)
- To help the body deal with underlying problems: Saffron, Ashwagandha, Men's and women's urinary comfort, cholesterol
2/ To be taken in a cure, but where a break is not necessarily necessary if you or your healthcare professional find it useful:
Detox: Milk thistle, Glutathione
Digestion: Probiotics
3/ Products where a break is useful:
- Curcumin: at least a break of a few days between each box, as it modifies metabolic pathways in the body
- Echinacea (immunity): a break of a few days between each box so as not to over-stimulate the immune system
- Melatonin: avoid taking it every day over the long term, so as not to habituate the body.
In all cases, it's important to remember that the products we offer are genuinely active, that it's important to respect dosage and that they are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
This will of course depend on the product and your physiological state.
It's worth remembering that physiology is a long-term process, and that it generally takes two to three months, sometimes longer, to achieve a profound change.
However, the feeling is generally quicker, between 15 days and two months. It is then necessary to continue to try to fix these initial results in greater depth.
However, this will be much quicker with subsequent products:
- Melatonin and sublingual GABA, which have a very rapid onset of action (between two minutes and 30 minutes)
- Probiotics (48 hours to two weeks))
