Immunity: Astragalus, Zinc, Echinacea - Solimmun
Immunity: Astragalus, Zinc, Echinacea - Solimmun

How Does Solimmun Support the Immune System?

1 / It prevents symptoms from breaking through.

2 / It slows down the inflammatory response.

3 / It reduces the potency of viruses.

Solimmun effectively strengthens a weakened body with a compromised immune system.

It is particularly useful before and during winter as a preventive measure against colds and flu, as well as in the prevention or support of illnesses that weaken the immune system, such as Lyme disease.

Why These Ingredients?

Purple echinacea, astragalus, blackcurrant, and beta-glucans have scientifically proven abilities to significantly boost immunity. They help block:

- Rhinoviruses and coronaviruses (responsible for common colds)

- Influenza virus (causing the flu)

These actions also help prevent symptoms from breaking through.

Beyond enhancing the immune system, echinacea also has a soothing effect on the respiratory system.

Zinc shortens the duration and symptoms of a cold (cough, headache, stuffy nose), and regular intake reduces their frequency.

Zinc is essential for the proper functioning of the immune system.

Vitamin C is also crucial because regular intake reduces the duration of sudden colds and their incidence, especially in cold weather or during physical activity.

Only Highly Standardized and Bioavailable Extracts Have Demonstrated Therapeutic Effects

Only echinacea extracts that are highly standardized in active compounds and quality-controlled stimulate the immune system and inhibit inflammation.

Their effectiveness in preventing and reducing symptoms has been widely demonstrated in numerous studies, including double-blind, placebo-controlled trials.

The echinacea extracts in Solimmun meet these standards.

Additionally, echinacea provides various active substances beneficial to immunity (polysaccharides, alkylamides, caffeic acid derivatives, phenolic acids...).

These substances are found across different echinacea species and plant parts.

To maintain this complexity and wide range of activity, a well-balanced product contains complementary echinacea extracts. Thus, Solimmun includes standardized extracts of active compounds from Echinacea purpurea roots and leaves, plus a patented extract from Echinacea angustifolia radix roots.

Astragalus membranaceus has long been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as a tonic to prevent colds.

Scientific research has shown that it contains specific polysaccharides that can boost the immune system if sufficiently concentrated.

For this reason, Solimmun’s astragalus extract is standardized to 16% polysaccharides.

Blackcurrant extract has demonstrated in vitro efficacy against the flu virus. However, not all extracts are equal.

This antiviral effect is optimal only when the extract is standardized for anthocyanosides, an active compound with antiviral properties. Solimmun contains a Ribes Nigrum berry extract, standardized to 15% anthocyanosides for maximum effectiveness.

Beta-glucans boost the immune system, particularly in the intestines, one of the most crucial areas of immunity.

Not all beta-glucans are equally effective. The most potent are beta-1,3/1,6-glucans from mushrooms and yeasts, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker's yeast).

This is why we chose this highly effective source for Solimmun.

Zinc supports a well-functioning immune system and specifically helps prevent viruses from binding in the nasal passages.

For zinc supplementation to be effective, it must be bioavailable. Solimmun uses zinc monomethionine, which offers better absorption compared to other common forms found in supplements.

Solimmun’s Vitamin C is 100% natural and highly bioavailable.

It comes from a standardized acerola extract. This natural form of Vitamin C is surrounded by bioflavonoids, which enhance absorption in the body.

Why choose Solimmun over other supplements to boost your immune system?

• Unique synergy of highly titrated extracts, each optimally dosed to strengthen your immune defenses.

• Every extract used in Solimmun has proven efficacy supported by scientific studies.

• Contains a blend of immune-boosting polysaccharides from Echinacea extracts (mainly E. angustifolia) and Astragalus membranaceus.

• Uses a complementary blend of Echinacea:

> Two Echinacea species: E. Purpurea and E. Angustifolia

> Standardized extracts from both the root and leaf of E. Purpurea

> E. Angustifolia root extract with scientifically proven effects, benefiting from triple standardization, including IDN 5405: a high-molecular-weight polysaccharide with a proven T-cell function.

• Enhanced formula with four immune-stimulating extracts:

  • Blackcurrant berries (Ribes Nigrum): Highly titrated standardized extract (15% anthocyanosides)
  • Natural Vitamin C within a plant matrix for easy assimilation (acerola cherry)
  • Easily absorbable organic zinc (zinc monomethionine)
  • Beta-glucans from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (beta-1,3/1,6-glucans)

Box of 60 capsules (2 months if taken with interruptions)

Composition per 2 vegetable capsules (Daily Intake):

- Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea folium) leaf extract standardized to 4% polyphenols: 160 mg

- Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) root extract standardized to 16% polysaccharides: 140 mg

- Barbados Cherry or Acerola (Malpighia punicifolia) cherry extract standardized to 15% vitamin C (18.75% RDA): 120 mg

- Purple Coneflower root (Echinacea angustifolia radix – patented) standardized to ≥2% echinacoside, ≥5% polysaccharides IDN 5405, and ≤0.1% isobutylamides: 100 mg

- Beta-glucans (Saccharomyces cerevisiae): 100 mg

- Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) root extract standardized to 4% cichoric acid: 60 mg

- Blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) berry extract standardized to 15% anthocyanosides: 60 mg

- Zinc (as zinc monomethionine - 75% RDA): 15 mg

Adults: 2 capsules per day for 2 weeks, followed by a 2-week break, over a total period of 4 months, unless otherwise advised by your healthcare professional.

Children over 10 years: 1 capsule per day

Solimmun is not recommended for children under 10 years old due to its high Zinc content (no more than 3mg per day for children under 10).

For optimal effectiveness, it is advisable to take a 2-week break from Solimmun after a 2-week course before starting another 2-week course.

Indeed, echinacea-based treatments are more effective when taken intermittently; when used continuously, they may eventually have the opposite effect.

Thus, with two bottles of 60 capsules, you have 4 months of immune system support (4 cycles of 2 weeks).

When to Use Solimmun?

- To support the immune defense system

- As a preventive measure against flu and colds

- For a soothing effect on the respiratory system

- To strengthen immunity, either as a preventive or as a support for Lyme disease

Possible Side Effects

There are no known side effects when used in the recommended dosage.

Do not use Solimmun if you have an HIV infection or autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis or Crohn's disease.

Additional Advice

- If you want to boost your immunity more comprehensively, you can combine Solimmun with liposomal Vitamin C and also with Vitamin D3 , especially from October to April.

- To combat intestinal infections or post-antibiotic treatment, consider pairing Solimmun with Solbiotic to strengthen your gut flora.

Scientific Information

Echinacea-based preparations stimulate the immune system and inhibit inflammation. The effectiveness of standardized, high-quality Echinacea preparations for preventing and reducing symptoms has been extensively demonstrated through various studies, including in vitro research, meta-analyses (1), and double-blind, placebo-controlled trials (2).

A wide range of components, such as polysaccharides, alkylamides (e.g., isobutylamides), and caffeic acid derivatives/phenolic acids (e.g., echinacoside, chicoric acid), contribute to the immunomodulatory effect of Echinacea preparations (3).

The composition of active ingredients varies by species, plant part, and extraction method. To respect this complexity and the broad range of activity (4), a well-balanced product should contain complementary Echinacea extracts. Combining extracts from E. Purpurea leaves and roots, for example, provides a synergy of N-alkylamides (5). Each extract must be standardized to ensure consistent quality and efficacy.

Solimmun contains immune-stimulating polysaccharides:

• Found in Echinacea extracts, primarily E. Angustifolia, whose patented extract is standardized to at least 5% polysaccharide IDN 5405 (6).

• Present in Astragalus root extract, featuring characteristic polysaccharides that induce an antiviral response by indirectly activating macrophages and maturing dendritic cells (7).

Astragalus membranaceus is used in traditional Chinese medicine as a tonic to prevent colds.

• In beta-glucans, with the most active being insoluble beta-1,3/1,6-glucans. Studies on beta-glucan efficacy indicate that activity levels vary, with the most potent derived from mushrooms and yeasts, such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast). Beta-glucans aid in inducing an immune response, notably activating leukocytes in Peyer's patches (an important immune area in the small intestine). Oral administration has proven effective (8).

Studies on zinc (9) show a reduction in the duration and severity of cold symptoms (cough, headache, nasal congestion), and regular intake decreases the likelihood of catching a cold. Zinc is essential for proper immune function. Solimmun uses zinc in the form of zinc monomethionine for better absorption.

In vitro studies have shown that blackcurrant extract can combat influenza virus types A and B (10). Another study found that optimal effects occur when the extract is standardized for anthocyanosides, active substances with antiviral potential. Blackcurrant anthocyanosides (Ribes nigrum) inhibit the spread of influenza viruses between infected and healthy cells (11).

Zinc demonstrates a similar effect in studies with rhinoviruses, preventing the common cold virus from adhering to nasal epithelial cells.

Echinacea constituents inhibit, in vitro, the adhesion of influenza viruses to human host cells (12).

Solimmun also contains standardized acerola extract. This natural vitamin C is accompanied by bioflavonoids, which enhance absorption by the body.

Regular vitamin C intake reduces the duration of sudden colds and, under extreme conditions (severe cold, intense physical activity), their incidence as well (13).

The mentioned plants and nutrients can be used for:

• Preventing colds and flu

• Preventing upper respiratory tract infections

• Boosting the immune system and acting as a mild anti-inflammatory

FAQ
FAQ (questions fréquentes)

- Most of our nutrients come from France or Europe (local is a priority), except when we can't do otherwise (for curcuma, for example). We never choose ingredients from places or countries where quality is not assured and workers are poorly paid.

- Solage products are designed in France and manufactured according to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards from the pharmaceutical industry and the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) method, developed by NASA.

Both methods implement procedures, documents and controls to guarantee perfect traceability and the absence of biological or chemical contamination.

- Solage is a French company, and its products are registered with the relevant authorities.

Solage products are safe, with no bad surprises.

To answer this question, we distinguish between three types of product, depending on their nature and intended purpose:

1/ Ideally taken as a continuous treatment: those which compensate for a nutritional or age-related deficiency, and which serve to restore the body's functions without altering its normal metabolism.

- Common nutritional deficiencies: marine omega-3, vitamin C, magnesium, vitamin D between October and May

- Age-related or pathological deficiencies: Ubiquinol, Glutathione, Iron, Collagen (type I and II)

- To help the body deal with underlying problems: Saffron, Ashwagandha, Men's and women's urinary comfort, cholesterol

2/ To be taken in a cure, but where a break is not necessarily necessary if you or your healthcare professional find it useful:

Detox: Milk thistle, Glutathione

Digestion: Probiotics

3/ Products where a break is useful:

- Curcumin: at least a break of a few days between each box, as it modifies metabolic pathways in the body

- Echinacea (immunity): a break of a few days between each box so as not to over-stimulate the immune system

- Melatonin: avoid taking it every day over the long term, so as not to habituate the body.

In all cases, it's important to remember that the products we offer are genuinely active, that it's important to respect dosage and that they are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

This will of course depend on the product and your physiological state.

It's worth remembering that physiology is a long-term process, and that it generally takes two to three months, sometimes longer, to achieve a profound change.

However, the feeling is generally quicker, between 15 days and two months. It is then necessary to continue to try to fix these initial results in greater depth.

However, this will be much quicker with subsequent products:

- Melatonin and sublingual GABA, which have a very rapid onset of action (between two minutes and 30 minutes)

- Probiotics (48 hours to two weeks))

Please refer to the “Scientific studies” section of this product page, where you'll find most studies on bioavailability and medium-term effects.
